Mira | Female Llama from Sunora Farm Classic Llamas

Mira is a great llama mama and does a wonderful job rearing her young. She has given me 3 gorgeous male crias out of Sky Rocket of Lost Creek Llamas - all large at birth with excellent conformation and mellow personalities. When I had the opportunity to add Mira to my classic breeding program I was thrilled. She is a very large solid brown girl with great conformation and the double classic coat. In a previous home she won many halter and performance ribbons but now she just wants to hang out in the pasture making babies. Although with the passing of Rocky last year, I don’t have any plans to breed her again until I can locate another great classic male.
See above and below for photos of her offspring.

I acquired Finys as a bred maiden in 2007. She was bred to Sky Rocket of Lost Creek Llamas. She gave birth to a girl a couple of weeks early and became a great mama llama. Unfortunately she miscarried her second pregnancy and I don’t plan to breed her again. She will need to find another occupation in life other than motherhood. She catches and halters easily and could be a great pack llama. She is a well balanced, moves at an even pace and has a beautiful double coat that is easy to care for. Finys is for sale.

Female Llama from Sunora Farm Classic Llamas - Maya

Maya was born a few weeks early on a beautiful spring day to a first time mom. Maya was very alert and had good survival energy. Her mom, Finys, developed a great milk supply and became an excellent mama llama. Maya is maturing nicely and is a pleasure to be around. She is very curious and loves giving kisses.

Maya went to her first show at 9 months old and performed very well. At 18 months she won the Reserve Grand Champion Novice Performance classes. But during the 2010 show season she was struggling with the “terrible twos”. She was not interested in paying attention to what was being asked of her in the performance ring. She wanted to do things her way, which wasn’t always the correct way to place well. We plan to attend several shows during the 2011 season and hopefully she will have matured enough for both of us to enjoy performing.

I do not plan to breed Maya at this time (age 3) since she comes from a dam line that tends to give birth early. I recommend that she not be bred until she is fully mature at 4 years of age. I believe Maya’s greatest potential will be as a pack llama. Maya is for sale.

Female Llama from Sunora Farm Classic Llamas - Zoe

Four days after Zoë was born a healthy 24 pound cria her mom, Molly, developed a severe case of mastitis. They both spent the next week at the OSU Vet Clinic before Molly was well enough to come home. Zoë means “life” and her will to live served her well during those difficult early days. She also had an umbilical hernia which required her to wear a belt for the first two months - but that didn't slow her down. At 6 months she was still small, but Molly continued to nurse her for over a year and she has developed nicely. I expect at maturity she will be tall and regale like her mom. She has a very calm personality and is my personal favorite. Her energetic spirit is a wonderful addition to our llama family.

Female Llama from Sunora Farm Classic Llamas - Molly

Molly was the first llama I purchased for my classic breeding program. She is tall and elegant with a very sweet personality. Although Molly is very independent she has blessed me with her friendship. She spent a summer at a stud’s farm but did not become pregnant. A full veterinary work up determined that she was underweight due to dental issues. After her dental work she started gaining weight. The next spring she conceived during her first breeding to Sky Rocket of Lost Creek Llamas. Molly gave birth to Zoë on June 1, 2009. Mother and daughter bonded well, but on day 4 Molly was very sick and was admitted to Oregon State Veterinary Hospital. She remained on life support for 5 days with a severe case of mastitis. Amazingly she continued to nurse Zoë through all her treatments until she was weaned. With lots of supplementation and extra love Molly is thriving as a mom. I don’t plan to breed Molly again, but she will have a treasured spot on the farm for life.

Earligold

Velarde

Earligold belongs to my daughter Vanora. She selected him from a herd because he came up to her and gave her a kiss. He was not being pushy, just wanted her to pick him. She spent many hours with him while she was growing up. She enjoyed training him, grooming him, making him costumes, taking him to shows, 4H events, parades, the beach, and packing in the mountains. Vanora has since grown up and moved away but Earligold has a place on the farm for life. We acquired Velarde as a companion to Earligold and they have been inseparable ever since. These geldings fill a valuable role on the farm as companion animals to the weanlings or the occasional boarder.
